Jim Houck, Partner, Writer, Executive Producer

Jim Houck started in advertising in 1991 at a small Miami ad agency called Crispin & Porter (C&P), partnering with a young art director named Alex Bogusky. Together with a 10-person creative staff, they worked to get their local agency some regional attention on the awards circuit. At the time, C&P billed in the neighborhood of $17 million. During his five stints at the agency between 1991 to 2007, Houck helped to build the agency into what is today — Crispin, Porter & Bogusky. It has been named numerous times as the Global Agency of the Year by Creativity magazine, the world’s leading advertising publication. Crispin, Porter & Bogusky bills more than $1 billion annually, with blue-chip clients such as Burger King, Volkswagen, Coke, Domino’s Pizza and Microsoft.

Houck has won every major international advertising award including One Show, Clio, Cannes Lions and the International ANDY. He also has 14 years of experience in Hollywood as a screenplay and teleplay writer and has scripted and sold original feature screenplays and teleplay pilots to Universal Studios, Universal TV/USA Network and Sony/UPN. He is a life-member of the elite Writers Guild of America, an organization with fewer than 8,000 members worldwide. Houck recently wrote, produced and executive-produced (this means he wrote the check) the international feature film The Writer (2010), shot in Los Angeles and Paris. To date, Houck is the only known executive working in the advertising industry with such extensive credentials in both advertising/marketing and Hollywood entertainment, making him unusually well suited as a creator and director of entertainment-driven marketing.
